In the trailer for the upcoming season of The Kardashians, Kim revealed that she had been diagnosed with esophagitis, a condition involving inflammation and irritation of the esophagus.
The diagnosis carries a deeply personal meaning for Kim and her family. Her father, Robert Kardashian, died from esophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59. Kim’s sister Khloé has previously spoken about how quickly their father’s illness progressed, recalling that he died only weeks after receiving his diagnosis.
Kim’s health revelation does not mean that she has esophageal cancer. Esophagitis is inflammation of the esophagus and can have several different causes. However, because of her father’s history, the diagnosis understandably brought back painful memories for the Kardashian family.
