Pakistan Urges US and Iran to Extend Fragile Ceasefire as Deadline Looms… See more

Pakistan’s foreign minister is pressing the United States and Iran to extend their shaky two-week ceasefire before it expires tomorrow night.

The truce, brokered by Islamabad on April 8, paused nearly seven weeks of direct conflict that included U.S. strikes on Iran and dangerous tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Initial talks in Pakistan narrowed some gaps but failed to produce a lasting deal.

With the clock ticking, Pakistan is once again stepping in as mediator, urging both sides to buy more time rather than risk renewed fighting. Traders on Polymarket currently give it just a 56 percent chance of extension.
America should not rush into endless diplomacy that rewards Iran’s provocations. Strength and clear red lines, not pleas from Islamabad, are what prevent real escalation.
