WH Sends Termination Letters To Many Biden-Appointed US Attorneys

Donald Trump’s administration moved to replace several U.S. Attorneys who had been appointed under Joe Biden, sending termination notices and prompting resignations across multiple districts. While it’s standard for U.S. Attorneys to step down during a change in administration, the use of direct termination letters instead of requested resignations stood out to current and former Justice Department officials.

Among those departing were Tara McGrath in San Diego, Erek Barron in Maryland, and Ismail Ramsey in Northern California, along with Tessa Gorman in Seattle and Dena King in North Carolina. Their exits reflect a broader transition as the new administration reshapes federal law enforcement leadership.

At the same time, the Senate confirmed several Trump-appointed ambassadors, including Warren Stephens to the United Kingdom, Tom Barrack, and Tilman Fertitta. These appointments, backed mostly by Republicans with some bipartisan support, signal the administration’s efforts to install key allies in important diplomatic roles.
